Make Music Day

Make Music Day is the world’s biggest international celebration of music, taking place in 125 countries on 21 June annually. It’s a DIY festival encouraging people to organise in-person and online music events for their communities. Discover how you can get involved - visit or follow @MakeMusicDayUK on social media.

In Long Preston Ivories & Strings are celebrating by offering Free Taster Music Lessons on Piano, Viola or Violin between 10-2 pm.

It is with great regret the May Day committee have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s celebrations. At the time of writing, the Government is aiming to reduce the spread of Covid-19 infection, with possible isolation of older adults, uncertainty over public gatherings, events, and school closures. Local elections have already been postponed for a year and there is speculation that peak infection in the UK may be in May/June. It is unclear when it may be rescheduled, but we will make sure all information is posted in the Parish Magazine, via school, village notice boards, and on the Village Website (
