St Mary's Church Project - Meeting on Wednesday 20th March 2019
With the arrival of some better weather, we are hoping to make some progress with our project in the churchyard of St Mary's. We are intending to survey and record several “at risk” gravestones (for more information, please see “Current Projects” page). Weather permitting, on Wednesday March 20th, members of the Embsay Research Group will be instructing us on the RTI technique and other methods of surveying the churchyard and the memorials contained within it.
If you are interested in participating please meet at 7 Bridge End at 10.30 am for an initial introduction and briefing session. The group will then make its way to the church for the practical photography session before returning to Bridge End to view the results.
Anyone wishing to take part should bring a packed lunch and make sure they are dressed for the occasion. Can you also let Richard Boothman know by telephone if you are attending (0776 397 9661) and he will then be able to let you know on Wednesday morning if the session has to be postponed due to inappropriate weather conditions.
We hope to see some more volunteers on the day!
On November 11, Long Preston together with the rest of the country commemorated the end of World War 1. The report and photographs are now available in the Village Galleries section of this website.
The group currently has 2 ongoing projects which are detailed under 'Current Projects': Archiving and one connected to St Mary’s Church. See above for additional information about the Church Project.
